HOPE [hōp] noun

The belief that the future will be better than the present.

You don’t have to do it alone

You once dreamed of having a fulfilling life, one filled with meaningful experiences and cherished memories shared with loved ones. You anticipated that balancing everyone's needs while still making time for your own hobbies and passions would be a challenge, but you eagerly filled your days with purpose and excitement.

Now, as you reflect on your current situation, you feel drained and unfulfilled. Despite the progress you've made and the new opportunities that have arisen, it's difficult to find joy and satisfaction when you feel stretched thin and constantly pulled in multiple directions.

At HOPE Therapy Group, we believe that everyone can benefit from therapy, and we're here to help you connect with yourself, achieve the life and relationships you want, and develop the skills to make them a reality.

The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.- Nelson Mandela

HOPE Is Here To Help

At HOPE Therapy Group, we are committed to helping individuals connect with themselves, achieve their desired lives and relationships, and develop the necessary skills to make them a reality.

Choose the one that sounds most like you.

Anxiety

You are seeking help to overcome your constant anxiety and reclaim your life from its grip. Your mind tends to get stuck on worries, making it difficult to let go and move on.

The excessive worrying has started to affect your daily life. Avoiding triggers has become a coping mechanism, but it's preventing you from fully experiencing life. You realize that seeking therapy is the first step to regaining control of your life and finding a sense of normalcy again.

As you work with a therapist:

  • You will learn to confront your fears head-on and be present in situations that trigger your anxiety rather than running from them.
  • You will no longer avoid people, places, or situations that make you anxious and will learn how to face them in a healthy way.
  • You will develop skills to recognize when anxious thoughts arise and prevent them from taking over your mind and causing further distress.
  • You will start to feel more connected with others and less alone in your struggles with anxiety.

Depression

You've noticed changes in your mood that seem to be keeping you from thriving. Lately, you've been feeling like you're crumbling under stress. You've been withdrawing from the things that used to bring you joy and isolating yourself from friends and family.

Everyone goes through ups and downs, but you never thought you would struggle with feeling depressed. You don't want your depression to hold you back from becoming who you're meant to be.

As you work with a therapist:

  • You'll regain interest in activities, relationships, and hobbies that once brought you joy.
  • You'll gain a deeper understanding of the underlying causes and triggers of your mood changes.
  • You'll become more adept at expressing your thoughts, feelings, and emotions in a healthy manner.
  • You'll develop better coping mechanisms that can help you manage stress and enhance your ability to focus and be productive.

Trauma

You have a strong desire to reclaim control over your life and to feel secure no matter where you are or what you're doing. However, since experiencing trauma, you've felt like a different person, as though the world is a dangerous place and it's challenging to find peace.

You recognize that healing from trauma takes time and is a serious matter, but you don't want to live in fear forever. You want to trust yourself and your ability to navigate life again.

As you work with a therapist:

  • You will overcome any feelings of shame and guilt that may have resulted from the trauma.
  • You will be able to recall past events without being overwhelmed by the traumatic experiences.
  • You will be able to engage fully with friends and family without experiencing symptoms of trauma such as depression and anxiety.
  • You will begin to experience a sense of hope that a normal life is achievable once again.

These are a few of our most requested services, but they are not a complete list of what our team can help with. Our therapists also work with grief and loss, anger, addiction, LGBTQI concerns, and more. Please feel free to reach out to our intake team with your unique needs.

What Individual Therapy Looks Like at HOPE

HOPE Therapy Group helps the members of our community EMBRACE what is, DISCOVER what is within, HEAL from what was, and HOPE for what is to come.

Select a step to see what it means for you.

We start with where you are today

Your first visit is an assessment. Your therapist reviews the issues, symptoms, and difficulties that led you to seek out therapy, and gets to know you and your history. Your therapist helps create a safe, non-judgmental space, and you have a choice in your provider.

We look at what is within

Individual therapy is an active, collaborative process through open, honest conversations between you and your therapist. Together, you work to understand what has brought you here and find the pieces of yourself that may have been lost to the demands of your busy life.

We make room for healing

As a trauma-informed practice, we help you work through what has been weighing on you, whether that is anxiety, depression, grief and loss, or past trauma. You will gain a better understanding of yourself and learn to address uncomfortable feelings in a constructive way.

You set the goals

Therapy can help you connect with yourself, achieve the life and relationships you want, and develop the skills to make them a reality. How often you meet is up to you to decide with your therapist. We take a holistic approach to instilling hope when it feels far away.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

CBT is a widely used therapeutic approach that focuses on the connection between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. It is based on the idea that our thoughts and interpretations of events influence how we feel and behave. By identifying and challenging negative or unhelpful thoughts and beliefs, you can learn to make positive changes in your emotions and behaviors.

CBT has been extensively researched and has shown effectiveness in treating a wide range of mental health conditions, including anxiety disorders, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). It is typically delivered in a structured and time-limited format, with a focus on specific goals and measurable outcomes.

Watch your thoughts; they become words; watch your words, they become actions; watch your actions, they become habits; watch your habits, they become character; watch your character, it becomes your destiny.- Lao Tzu

FAQs

What can I expect on my first visit?

Your therapist will go through an assessment that reviews what issues, symptoms, and difficulties led you to seek out therapy services. It allows your therapist to get to know you and your history to see if the therapeutic relationship will be a good fit. You can choose your provider and discuss questions, concerns, and feedback with your therapist.

TherapyPortal, a safe and encrypted platform for storing confidential information, will send you the intake forms. After scheduling an initial appointment, you’ll receive an email with instructions to create a login.

How long and frequent will therapy sessions be?

Sessions are 50-60 minutes long. The frequency of therapy sessions will be up to you to decide with your therapist. Generally, in beginning therapy, you can expect sessions to be weekly or once every other week in order to build consistency toward resolving your symptoms or difficulties.

What can individual therapy help with?

Our counselors work with individuals of all ages and with a wide range of concerns. Some of our most requested services include anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, anger, addiction, and LGBTQI concerns. This is not an exhaustive list, so please feel free to reach out to our intake team with your unique needs.

How do I find the right therapist for me?

Our Clinician Search Tool lets you narrow your search by specialty and by the specific issues you wish to address, such as anxiety, depression, or trauma. You can click on each therapist's photo to read their biography, then complete our contact form. You can also reach out to our intake team, and we will match you with a therapist who is the best fit for your specific needs and goals.

Can I do therapy online?

Yes. Telehealth is available throughout California, and in person sessions are available at our San Diego and Los Angeles offices. Please note that we cannot schedule appointments by walking into the office, as we do not have front desk staff.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes. If you have one of the insurances listed above, it is important for you to verify your mental health benefits so you understand your coverage prior to your appointment. Some insurance companies require a prior authorization before the first appointment, or they will not cover the costs of services.

In addition, we do not bill secondary insurance or accept Medicare or Medicaid plans.

What is a superbill?

A superbill is a document that lists the healthcare services provided by a professional along with the associated fees. Clients can use this document as an invoice to request payment from their insurance provider for services received outside of their network.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellations or missed appointments without 24-hour notice will be subject to a $75.00 fee.
