HOPE for Military Families
Deployments, PCS moves, long separations and the return home ask a lot of everyone in the family. You don't have to carry it alone.
HOPE Therapy Group is a trauma-informed practice that accepts TRICARE and TriWest. Our team includes therapists who work with veterans and military families, and we offer individual, couples, family and children's therapy. We match you with the therapist who is the best fit for your needs and goals. Meet in person at one of our four offices, or online from anywhere in California.

HOPE [hōp] noun
The belief that the future will be better than the present.
Military life asks for strength and flexibility from everyone in the family. Orders change, moves come quickly, and someone is often holding things together at home while someone else is away. Most days, you just keep going.
But the stress adds up. Maybe it shows up as worry that won't switch off, sleep that doesn't come easily, distance in your relationship, or kids who are struggling with another goodbye. Whether you serve, have served, or love someone who does, what you are feeling deserves care.
At HOPE Therapy Group, we believe that everyone can benefit from therapy. We're here to help service members, veterans, spouses, partners and children connect with themselves and each other, and develop the skills to build the life and relationships they want.
The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.- Nelson Mandela
Tap anything that feels true right now.
At HOPE Therapy Group, we support service members, veterans, spouses, partners and children through every stage of military life, from the first deployment to the transition home.
Choose the one that sounds most like you.
Whether you are the one deploying or the one holding down the home front, time apart is hard. Worry can take over, routines shift overnight, and kids feel the change even when they don't have the words for it.
You might be running the household on your own, staying connected across time zones, or bracing for the next set of orders. Having a steady place to talk can make the stretch between goodbye and homecoming feel more manageable.
Homecoming is something to celebrate, and it can also be one of the hardest parts. Roles at home have shifted, everyone has changed a little, and getting back in sync takes time. Leaving the military brings its own questions about identity, purpose and what comes next.
If you feel low, disconnected, or out of place in the life you came back to, you are not alone, and it doesn't have to stay this way.
Since your service, or since something you went through, you may not feel like yourself. You might be on alert all the time, sleep poorly, avoid reminders, or feel like the people around you can't understand what you've seen.
Healing from trauma takes time, and asking for help is a sign of strength. As a trauma-informed practice, we go at your pace and help you feel safe, steady and in control again.
These are some of the most common reasons military families reach out, but they are not a complete list. Our therapists also work with anxiety, depression, grief and loss, anger, addiction, LGBTQI concerns, and more, through individual, couples, family and children's therapy. Please feel free to reach out to our intake team with your unique needs.
HOPE Therapy Group helps the members of our community EMBRACE what is, DISCOVER what is within, HEAL from what was, and HOPE for what is to come.
Select a step to see what it means for you.
Your first visit is an assessment. Your therapist reviews the issues, symptoms, and difficulties that led you to seek out therapy, and gets to know you and your history. Your therapist helps create a safe, non-judgmental space, and you have a choice in your provider.
Therapy is an active, collaborative process through open, honest conversations between you and your therapist. Together, you work to understand what has brought you here and find the pieces of yourself that may have been lost to the demands of military life.
As a trauma-informed practice, we help you work through what has been weighing on you, whether that is the stress of deployment, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, or past trauma. You will gain a better understanding of yourself and learn to address uncomfortable feelings in a constructive way.
You can come on your own, as a couple, or as a family. Therapy can help you connect with yourself and each other, and develop the skills to build the life and relationships you want. How often you meet is up to you to decide with your therapist. We take a holistic approach to instilling hope when it feels far away.
CBT is a widely used therapeutic approach that focuses on the connection between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. It is based on the idea that our thoughts and interpretations of events influence how we feel and behave. By identifying and challenging negative or unhelpful thoughts and beliefs, you can learn to make positive changes in your emotions and behaviors.
CBT has been extensively researched and has shown effectiveness in treating a wide range of mental health conditions, including anxiety disorders, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). It is typically delivered in a structured and time-limited format, with a focus on specific goals and measurable outcomes.
Watch your thoughts; they become words; watch your words, they become actions; watch your actions, they become habits; watch your habits, they become character; watch your character, it becomes your destiny.- Lao Tzu
