Hi there! I’m Sara (she/her), an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist with a deep passion for helping people feel seen, heard, and supported. I earned my Master’s in Clinical Counseling from Point Loma Nazarene University and my Bachelor’s in Psychology from San Diego State University. When I’m not in the therapy room, you’ll likely find me hanging out with my adorable cat, Alfie, or absorbed in a competitive cooking or baking show. I recharge by being in nature—whether it’s hiking, beach days, or just soaking up the sun—and I’m always on the hunt for new foods and restaurants to try.
I love working with...
Individuals, couples, teens, children, and families.
Some of my favorite approaches include...
Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), I customize my approach to fit the specific needs and goals of each client. My ultimate goal is to provide each client with a corrective emotional experience and undo any loneliness they may experience in the world around them.
How I help...
I take a trauma-informed and attachment-based lens in therapy, creating a safe, non-judgmental space where clients can explore their emotions, build healthier coping strategies, and work toward meaningful personal growth.
I believe...
Exploring and understanding one’s cultural and personal identity is critical to healing and growth, which is why cultural sensitivity is a core value in my work with clients. Whether clients are navigating questions of racial, cultural, or personal identity or are facing the challenges of being in relationships or families with diverse backgrounds, I provide a supportive and affirming space to explore these dynamics.
What it's like in session with me
In our first few sessions, my focus is on getting to know you—your story, your strengths, and what’s bringing you to therapy. I offer a warm, compassionate space where you can feel safe to explore whatever is on your mind at your own pace. We’ll collaborate to set goals that feel meaningful to you, and I’ll always respect your autonomy in shaping our work together.
