Increasing Perspective, Maintaining Growth

Hi! I am Dr. Tania (she/her) and I am a LMFT with a PsyD in Marriage and Family Therapy. I obtained my Masters in CFT in 2011 from TCSPP in Irvine, and my Doctor of Psychology: MFT from AIU in 2017, when I also became licensed (LMFT100354). I have experiences with domestic violence, substance use, sexual assault, trauma, psychiatric patients, couples and marriage counseling.

I love working with...

I specialize in couples and marriage counseling, relationships, individuals with anxiety and/or trauma, substance use, familial issues, immigrant/refugee families, identity and self-esteem issues, stress management, and military lifestyles. I typically work from a Solution-Focused framework with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy homework, and attachment theory ideologies. I am very direct and like to help people identify their strengths through previous challenges and experiences they have endured to work on present and future issues that may occur.

Some of my favorite approaches include...

I love using Solution-Focused Therapy, with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy homework, and client-centered modalities. I work from a cultural awareness lens, and bring perspective and suggestions as needed.

How I help...

My clients are typically seeking direct, compassionate, and motivational perspectives. I like to listen to what the client(s) want to discuss and what areas of their life they feel needs the most assistance and support. I feel the client is an expert in their own life and needs the suggestion, perspective, and support in certain areas. I do not come in with my own agenda, and I am very open to what the client wants to work on.

I believe...

I am interested in what clients want to work towards, what goals they have, and areas they want to improve. If you are a client that wants a therapist that gives perspective, suggestions, and homework to help the client(s) work on their issues themselves, and don't need to be in therapy forever; we will build rapport immediately and begin the work together.

What it's like in session with me

In the first consultation session, I will ask some general questions to get to know the client(s) and see what their goals are for therapy. I want to learn about their history of therapy if any, and what their expectation of therapy would be, and how they want to work on their issues. I want the client to see that it will be a safe, unjudgmental place, and where they feel the most comfortable for themselves.
