Hello, I'm Patrick (he/him) and I'm a AMFT. I am passionate about helping others find their way. I graduated with BS in psychology with a concentration in neuroscience at Colorado State University, and received my MA in Clinical Counseling from Point Loma Nazarene University. When not in session you can find me snuggling with my Siberian husky Nellie and taking walks.
I love working with...
Individuals, couples, teens and families who may be struggling with difficulties coping with whatever life might entail. I enjoy exploring management towards substance use, depression, anxiety, interpersonal conflict, ADHD, and autism.
Some of my favorite approaches include...
Some of my favorite approaches include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivation Interviewing, and Narrative Therapy. I also enjoy incorporating my background in neurosciences to gain an understanding of how the brain can impact us in a variety of ways. My goals for all my clients are to take steps into being the person that would want to be!
How I help...
My style of therapy uses compassion and care to be direct in creating change. I take a trauma informed approach to understand the impact of how our thoughts and stories we tell about ourselves impact how we feel and act. And increase understanding and coping skills to help meet your personal goals.
I believe...
Every person has the capacity to help themselves, no matter the situation and circumstances there is always something that can be done. Understanding in all forms sets the framework for steps to creating change into the person who you want to be.
What it's like in session with me
My sessions put the focus on you! In early sessions you can expect the "getting to know you" period where we will collaboratively work to increasing understanding into what is bringing you to therapy within a warm and accepting environment. We will work together to create goals based on what is important to you and take therapy wherever you deem as important.
