¡Saludos! My name is Carolina Oviedo-Munoz (she/her/hers), and I am a bilingual, Spanish-speaking, Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist. I received my Master’s in Marital and Family Therapy from the University of San Diego, and my Bachelor’s in Psychology from Point Loma Nazarene University. I was born in San Diego, and was raised both here and in Tijuana, Mexico. For self-care I enjoy lifting weights and taking spin classes! On slow paced days you can catch me drinking my cafecito reading a book or spending time with loved ones.

I love working with...

I am very passionate about serving the Spanish-speaking community to help bridge the gap between mental health services and the stigma associated with it. Through this work I absolutely love serving young adults and adults seek support with challenges regarding depression, anxiety, self-esteem, and religious/cultural stress. I am also very passionate about working with couples enhance their communication skills, learn how to manage conflict, and strengthen their friendship.

Some of my favorite approaches include...

Gottman Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. I use a trauma informed and culturally sensitive approach where I strive for every individual to feel safe, empowered, and heard.

How I help...

As a therapist I like to use a collaborative style, which means you and I work together to establish your goals, and I tailor my approach to what your needs are. My role and hope is to walk alongside you and guide you as we use your strengths and interests to work towards your desired outcomes.

I believe...

I believe the client is the expert of their lives. And I am here to be a part of your journey to help and support you little by little to reach your goals. I also believe you have to trust the process, and be patient with yourself in your healing journey.

What it's like in session with me...

I strive to create a welcoming space that feels supportive and gentle, which means I will meet you where you’re at. The sessions will consist of conversations that include self-reflecting questions, and learning new skills that will assist in coping with the challenges one is facing.
