Hi, I’m Averee Karras (she/her), an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT). I’m passionate about helping individuals, couples, and families work through life’s challenges, strengthen relationships, and feel more grounded during times of change. My goal is to create a supportive and welcoming space where clients feel genuinely seen, heard, and understood. Outside of sessions, you can find me at the beach, connecting with friends, or painting.
I love working with...
Children, teens, young adults, individuals, and families. I’m passionate about supporting clients as they navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, relationship challenges, identity exploration, and everyday life stressors while building greater self-awareness, self-esteem, and resilience.
Some of my favorite approaches include...
My approach to therapy is flexible and personalized, recognizing that every client brings their own experiences, strengths, and goals into the process. I integrate techniques from several therapeutic models, including Play Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy, and Attachment-Based approaches, to create treatment that feels supportive and effective for each individual. I strive to foster a safe, collaborative environment where clients can feel empowered to better understand themselves, navigate challenges, and create meaningful change.
How I help...
I strive to create a therapeutic space that feels safe, supportive, and approachable for each client. I bring an outgoing personality into sessions and believe therapy can be both meaningful and engaging, using a style that is warm, direct, and authentic. Through a trauma-informed approach, I help clients feel understood while supporting them in building coping skills, increasing self-awareness, and working through life’s challenges in a way that feels empowering and supportive.
I believe...
…therapy should be a safe, compassionate, and personalized space where people can process their own experiences without judgment, build upon their own strengths, and take a safe path towards healing and connection with themselves.
What it's like in session with me
Sessions with me are supportive, collaborative, and genuine. I aim to create an environment where you feel safe to be yourself while also feeling encouraged and challenged in meaningful ways. My style is warm, direct, and engaging, and I like to bring authenticity and humor into the therapy space when appropriate. I balance creating a comfortable atmosphere with helping you build insight, process emotions, and develop practical tools you can use outside of the session. I work at your pace while fostering growth, self-awareness, and resilience.
