Hi there! I’m Abby (she/her/hers) and I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with experience working in outpatient mental health as both a clinician and program director. My clinical work is focused on helping people better understand themselves, their relationships, and the patterns that show up in their lives. Outside of being a therapist, I’m an artist, an amateur runner, a sister, a daughter, cat mom, and someone who tries to find a little whimsy in the everyday. I love creating (in many different ways!), a good find at the thrift store, being in the mountains, and seeing my favorite musicians live whenever I get the chance.
I love working with...
I enjoy working with people who feel "stuck", despite having spent a lot of time trying to understand themselves, their relationships, and other aspects of their life. I’m especially drawn to working with creatives, people navigating life transitions, and those working through trauma, attachment wounds, perfectionism, shame, burnout, and questions of identity. If you feel overwhelmed, anxious, disconnected in relationships, weighed down by old experiences, or unsure where to go next, I’m here to help you move forward with confidence, support, and an authentic approach for real healing.
Some of my favorite approaches include...
My approach is relational, trauma-informed, and integrative, drawing from attachment theory, EMDR, mindfulness, shame resilience theory, creative arts, CBT, ACT, and DBT. I don't believe therapy should be one-size-fits-all, so I’ll bring in different approaches depending on what you need, and sometimes thinking outside of traditional therapeutic boxes altogether. I strive to remain attuned to your needs, while challenging you when necessary. I’m interested in understanding the context of your experiences, including culture, identity, relationships, and the systems you move through, always staying curious about how those experiences have shaped the way you see yourself and the world.
How I help...
We will work together to explore and process your emotions, past experiences, and understand their connection to your present struggles, while implementing practical tools that work with the real (and sometimes complicated) parts of life. Our time together will help make space for you to untangle thoughts and rewire patterns, so you can finally hear yourself think and let yourself feel. We’ll move toward healing in a way that feels authentic— not forced, not rushed, and not like you have to become a completely different person in order to feel relief. Realistic and meaningful goals will be established and we will regularly check in on your progress so we can make changes to fit your needs and celebrate the wins along the way.
I believe...
...therapy should make room for creativity, curiosity, and individuality.
...you don’t need to show up perfectly, you just need to show up.
...healing isn't always about finding a coping skill for every difficult feeling. Sometimes, it is learning that you can feel something deeply without being consumed by it.
...relationships can be both the source of our wounds and an important part of healing.
What it's like in session with me
Starting therapy can feel like a lot, especially when you’re already carrying a lot. A relaxed, conversational space is where we begin getting to know each other. I bring warmth and a healthy dose of humor into my work, because sometimes being able to laugh together is part of what makes a difficult conversation feel a little safer. My goal is to help you feel comfortable, understood, and supported while we begin identifying what feels most important to focus on. You will always be met curiosity, compassion, and a safe space to let go and be in the moment.
