And now that you don’t have to be perfect, you can be good.

Hi! I’m Josie (she/her), and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I earned my Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from California Lutheran University and my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Education from The University of Washington. I was born and raised in Los Angeles, and feel grateful to have the opportunity to give back to the community that has always been home to me. Outside of therapy, I enjoy staying active, reality tv, reading, and trivia nights with friends!

I love working with...

I love working with adolescents and young adults as they navigate the challenges of growing, changing, and figuring out who they are. I have a particular interest in working with clients who may initially have difficulty opening up or trusting others, and I value creating a space where clients can feel understood, supported, and comfortable being themselves without judgement.

Some of my favorite approaches include...

Some of my favorite approaches include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and person-centered therapy. I value helping clients recognize and challenge unhelpful thought patterns while also identifying and building on their existing strengths and resources. I believe the therapeutic relationship should be a safe, non-judgmental, and collaborative space where clients feel comfortable being themselves. At the same time, I believe in gently challenging clients when needed, while providing encouragement and support as they work through discomfort and take steps toward their goals.

How I help...

I strive to create a warm, supportive, and non-judgmental space where clients feel comfortable being honest and showing up as themselves. I believe that building trust and rapport is an important part of the therapeutic process, and I meet clients where they are rather than expecting them to be ready for change right away. My goal is to work collaboratively with each client to help them better understand themselves and feel more confident navigating life's challenges.

I believe...

...that people are capable of growth and change when they feel supported, understood, and empowered to take that first step.

What it's like in session with me

Starting therapy can feel intimidating! Especially when you're meeting someone new and aren't quite sure what to expect. My goal is to make sessions feel comfortable, conversational, and collaborative. In our first sessions, we'll spend time getting to know each other, understanding what brought you to therapy, and identifying what you'd like to work toward. From there, we'll work together to better understand patterns that may be getting in your way, build on your strengths, and develop practical tools that feel meaningful and realistic for you. I want you to feel that therapy is a space where you can be honest, ask questions, and show up as your authentic self.
